Loleatta Holloway, née le novembre 1946 5 (5-novembre-1946) (Erreur dexpression : mot « novembre » non reconnu ans) à Chicago et morte le mars 21 2011[1], est une chanteuse gospel américaine de la grande époque de la musique soul et du R&B puis aussi disco et house.

Biographie

Elle chante dès l'âge de quatre ans dans le groupe de gospel de sa mère.

Artiste reconnue des années 1970, elle est à l'origine de nombreux succès, parmi lesquels le titre Love Sensation (qui sera samplé par le groupe hip-hop Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch (Good Vibrations) et le groupe de house Black Box (Ride On Time), mais aussi le succès Relight My Fire de Dan Hartman.

Ses chansons sont encore aujourd'hui régulièrement remixées et passent en club comme la reprise d'Eddie Thoneick Love Sensation qui a eu un vrai succès dans les clubs du monde entier.

Le groupe Nuyorican Soul a également repris Runaway et Hit & Run, grâce notamment à la voix de La India.

Elle meurt le 21 mars 2011 à 64 ans.
