Lauren Christy is an English singer-songwriter and music producer. She is a part of the writing trio The Matrix.

Career

Christy was born in London, England. She studied at the Bush Davies Ballet School as a child, before she decided to become a musician.[1]

As a youngster at The Bush Davies Theatrical School, this native of South London showed great prowess as a ballet dancer. This one is destined for greatness! How profound the words of her ballet instructors, yet as the years passed by, Lauren found herself intrigued by the piano in every dance studio, driven by the motion of sound, more so than the movement to sound.

By age nineteen, Lauren had become a solo recording artist. What began as a passion for dance had evolved into a professional journey into the foray of music. Signed to EMI Publishing - London, Lauren took America by storm when she achieved a recording contract with Polygram Mercury records. The year was 1994, and the English songstress with the Liz Taylor looks, received an American Music Awards nomination for Best New Artist. Her smash hit Color of the Night also garnered her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Song in an Original Motion Picture.

Fast forward five years, Lauren at the pinnacle of motherhood, reinvents herself as co-creator of The Matrix. Alongside creative partners Graham Edwards and Scott Spock the trio wrote and produced the worldwide phenomenon Avril Lavignes LET GO which included three international number one hits Complicated, Sk8er Boi and Im With You - selling 17 million copies. Complicated led to the Matrix trio winning the Ivor Novello Award for International Hit of The Year, and garnered seven Grammy nominations - Song of the Year in 2003 for Complicated and again in 2004 for Im With You along with Producer of the Year. Lauren is also a two time Juno award winner and a BMI Songwriter of the Year Award recipient.

The Matrix has sold over thirty million records and has worked with the such great artist as Avril Lavigne; Jason Mraz - The Remedy; Shakira - Dont Bother; Liz Phair - Why Cant I; Korn - Coming Undone, Twisted Transition; David Bowie - New Killer Star; Christina Aguilera - This Year; Rickey Martin - This Is Good; Britney Spears - Shadow; Hilary Duff - So Yesterday; Ferras - Hollywoods Not America; Busted Three AM; Tokyo Hotel - Human Connect to Human; Rihanna - Cheers; Grayson Chance - Hold On To The Night, to mention a few.

After twelve years of being behind the scenes with her sleeves rolled up, setting the stage for others to shine, Lauren recently had the chance to grace the stage as a performer once again; singing three songs live to 12 million viewers on the Ukraine X Factor.

Entering her third decade as a music professional, this one time ballerina to be can be found six days a week, raising kids and writing hit songs. Her recent solo work includes but is not limited to Enrique Iglesiass worldwide number one Tonight Im Loving You; Chris Medina - What Are Words; Kelly Clarkson - I Forgive You; Timberland - Runaway; Jason Derulo - Breathing; Neon Hitch - F-U Betta; Headley - Kiss You Inside Out; and new artist Jamie Dee and Liam.

Lauren once said, Its amazing to have a number one hit record, but to have done it again ten years later is even sweeterI am dancing for joy coz I love what I do!
